Marriage Advice for Newlyweds| From Professional Photographers

This morning I was browsing through one of my Facebook Photography groups as I usually do, drinking a cup of coffee. Another photographer asked for some tips and advice from everyone on marriage. How awesome, I thought since this very same idea crossed my mind about a week ago. So I figured instead of me trying to come up with my best advice or searching the internet, why not use some of the quotes given in this group. After All, Photographers are pretty intelligent folks!! I'll add their quote and a link to their photography page! ;) Check them out, they are pretty great!!

This is Robert and Marva, my longest married couple! 50 years married, staying strong. They are the best role models I've ever met! Thank you! Treasured Moments Photography.

Blinded by love and commitment, these two adorable people have been married to each other for quite some time. Are they not just the sweetest? Oh and grandma LOVED to dance, and Grandpa was quite the flirt!!! Treasured Moments Photography

  • Don't hold a double standard on forgiveness. When we do something to hurt someone, we expect the other party to forgive and forget and pronto!  Give your spouse the same respect and make the choice to forgive. No matter what has happened, it will do your heart and your relationship good to learn how to let it go. Make it a habit with the little things and it will be much easier with the big things.---Rebecca Hill Matthews  https://www.facebook.com/lifesongbyrebecca

  •   I have been married for over 28 years and communication is the key thing to marriage but the hardest of them all, never wake up still mad always take care of things before you go to bed at night, never give the spouse a reason not to trust you, always tell your spouse you love them before they go out the door, kiss your spouse good night, always take care of a problem when the arise instead of putting it off, and date night with just the 2 of you only. ---Betty Faulk  https://www.facebook.com/BFaulkPhotography

  •   Love is an action. Put each other first and think of ways every day to make each other better. Married 4 years.---Aly Martin

This was the "who's been married the longest dance" I can't recall how long it was, but I know it was quite a lot! Very impressive, and they even gave their tips and advice at Hope and Cole's wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Ward, you are truly an inspiration …

  •   Eliminate divorce as an option. In this time, people are so ready to believe that the vows they took are just for the times that are easy and not life's tough days. Don't take the easy way out. Stay and deal with your problems. Married one year, together seven (highschool sweethearts). Sharita Vonsik

  •   After 22 years, I still say, "so far so good." For me, marriage isn't a status, nor a trophy to work your way towards winning. It's the simple beauty of two people navigating their way through life together.---Margaret Sullivan Newton Margaret Newton Photography, LLC.

  •   36 years married. "Love one another...as I have loved you" Keep God as the center of your life. Stay out of debt. Eat ice cream.---Frank Donnino, Frank Donnino Photography

  •   My husbands only marital advice is to always fight naked. He says it's because it always makes me laugh when he's like "Oh, lets do this" and just starts ripping off clothes, but it's really because when someone is naked, they are their most vulnerable... and it's a lot harder to say things you'll regret. Take it with a grain of salt (We never fight naked b/c it always results in me laughing and tell him to knock it off and put his pants back on), but that's his advice.---Jackie Spivey's Husband!  ;)

1. Never be afraid to admit fault and to say I'm sorry.
2. Always find time to go on dates.
3. Tell her she's pretty. Often.
4. 15 seconds kisses go a long way.
5. Fight naked.
6. Never say something you couldn't take back or wouldn't say in front of her father.
